[Robert Bolton, Jr. (1848)] The Pur-dy's have long been possessed of estates in this town, and are lineally descended from the Purdys of Rye and White Plains. Of this family was Joseph Purdy, one of the proprietors of the White Plains and the Lame Will's purchase in Rye, A. D., 1678. The surviving sons of the late Lieut. Alvan Purdy, are Abraham, of Goshen county, James, post master of Yorktown, and Alvan, proprietor of the homestead. In the vicinity of Crompond and bordering on King street is the residence of the Hon. Henry White one of the judges of the late Court of Common Pleas in this county. Judge White is
