After we received on the 30"' December last your High Mightinesses' letter of the 2S"'' of the same month, and briefly and provisionally submitted on the following day to your High Mightinesses that it would be impossible for us to give an answer within the space of two days HOLLAND DOCUMENTS: VIL 521 to the petition presented to you, High and Mighty, by Johan van Renselaer, patroon, Mr. Johan de Laet and the widow and heirs of Samuel Biommaert, co-directors of the coionie, named Renselaers-wyck, we daily occupied ourselves in the examination of the aforesaid petition and in comparing with it what the Director General of New Netherland has addressed to us by letters, and also what was received by reports and informations of other qualified and reliable persons.
