Morgan Chapter During the summer of 1962, I conducted a test excavation on the Atwell Fort Site, situated about 15 mi. southeast of Syracuse, New York. The purpose of the test was to obtain an artifact sample of sufficient size to make possible determination of the cultural affiliation of the site and of the approximate date of occupation.
