# Croton Point Park

Croton Point Park is a Westchester County park located in Croton-on-Hudson, New York. The facility offers diverse recreational opportunities including a miniature aircraft airport, boat launch, tent and RV camping, cabin rental, cross-country skiing, fishing, and other activities.

## History

The park's land was historically owned by the Underhill family during the 1800s. Agricultural production included grapes, watermelons, and apples alongside brick manufacturing operations. Several structures built from these bricks remain standing at the site today, along with wine cellars from an old manor.

A significant portion of the current parkland served as a county landfill from 1927 to 1986. Following closure, the landfill was capped off and restored to green space.

## Events

The park hosts annual events including the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater festival, the Croton Point Shindig, and Hudson River Eagle Fest.

The park functions as a nature center and beach facility along the Hudson River. It is categorized as a Hudson River School site and contains multiple hiking and walking trails alongside museum facilities for nature study. The park covers 508 acres on a peninsula jutting into the Hudson River.
