Harmon Hats - Everybody Needs 'Em!
This piece discusses a vintage advertisement for Harmon Hats that appeared in the October 1949 issue of Outdoorsman magazine. The ad promoted "zelan treated" all-purpose sports hats priced at "$5.45," featuring "genuine mouton ear-neck flaps" for extra protection.
Two models were available: model #7070, described as "ideal for mom, pop and the children," and model #7071, marketed specifically for "fishermen and hunters" with an advertised "unbreakable visor." The manufacturer guaranteed "excellent fit and complete satisfaction . . . or your money back!"
Zelan was an early DuPont water-repellent coating.
