Thanks to Carl Oechsner, the site obtained a 1938 Croton-on-Hudson phone directory. The creators initially planned to scan advertisements for establishments like the Mikado Inn, Konco's Garage, and Robbins Pharmacy. Upon closer examination, they discovered listings for notable Crotonites including Max Eastman, Margaret Mayo, and Carrie E. Tompkins.

The team scanned every page and processed the images through optical character recognition technology, creating a searchable PDF available on Google Docs.

The creators invite readers with early Croton phone directories or other historical ephemera to share their materials. They express interest in scanning additional directories, vintage photographs, and similar historical documentation.
