From September 18, 177"), until April 5, 1790, there were no meetings of the vestrymen, and it is probable the church was closed most of the time. General Washington is said to have worshipped there while conducting military operations in the vicinity. For a few years subsequent to 1809 the Episcopal Church at Fishkill was under the same rector as St. Peter's and St. Philip's Churches.
