[J. Thomas Scharf (1886)] At one time the member-ship of the church numbered about sixty. Simultaneously with the opening of the church a Sabbath-school was organized. Mr. Andrew C. Wheeler (said to have been the first superintendent of a Methodist Sunday-school in the city of New York — the Allen Street Church) was elected superin-tendent.
