[J. Thomas Scharf (1886)] elegant mansion was built in 1840 by Sylvester H. WILLIAM BLEAKLEY. Mr. Bleakley had three brothers, — James T. N., Andrew and John L., — all of whom were well-known citizens of New York, and held many prominent positions. At present (1884) there are on Verplanck's Point ten brick-yards, which employ about four hundred and twenty-live men, and manufacture about four hundred thousand bricks daily during a season of one hundred and thirty or one hundred and forty \S days. Three yards are leased from Mrs. Rosalie A. Bleakley, and are op-erated by Frank Timo-ney. They employ about
