Thomas Scharf (1886)] Light, while of his great-grandchildren three only survive — Hiram Hitt, of Connecticut; Mrs. Phebe Darby, of Syracuse; and Mrs. Jerusha Corsa, of Somers, all of them over seventy years of age. John Hempstead's tomb is to be found in the burial-ground on Somers' Plain, with this inscription :
