[J. Thomas Scharf (1886)] A part of this tract is now covered by the Croton Reservoir. He erected a frame house on the east branch of the Croton River, a short distance east of the upper iron bridge at Croton Falls, where he lived a quiet life many years. The proper-ty is now owned by Joel B. Purdy. Later, Crosby Noirrn built the house now owned by his grand-daughter, j Mrs. S. E. Mead, ofGolden's Bridge. It stands north of the old house. In this house Crosby passed the later years of his life, and died June 25, 1835. He was interred in the old Gilead burying-ground, near
