[J. Thomas Scharf (1886)] awakened. In the wars with the French on the English colonial borders, in the middle of the eighteenth century, and which involved much anx-iety and enthusiasm in the Province of New York, Westchester County did her part, and the names of her inhabitants appear numerously on the muster-rolls, and East Chester is found not behind other towns in her devotion. In the muster-roll (April 20, 1758) of the Company of one hundred and twenty men, of which Jonathan Fowder, of East Chester, is Captain; and in the rolls Captains Verplanck (1758), Ogden (1758), Haight (1759), Bayeux (1760) and Stevens (1762), the names of the following natives of East Chester are found : Name.
