When more than one curve is put on a grid, it is necesary to make some differentiation
between the curves. A dotted line is one solution.
2. The grid of a chart may be omitted to great advantage in some cases. Since the
omission often hinders the reading of the chart, the practice should not be encouraged.

1. If this material had been plotted on a grid with one scale, it would have resulted in
too large a chatt. When a common grid is thus used for two scales, care should be taken to put the zero of each at a common starting point.
2. Note the lag of the automobile curve as compared with the steel ingot curve.
