Archivist summary: Nathaniel B. Holmes (c.1796-1881) was the founding president of the Westchester County Savings Bank. He states his belief that British Major John André was captured on the west side of the Post Road in Tarrytown on September 23, 1780, and was examined by his three captors on the east side of the road. He notes that he heard this information from a Mr. Wildey, who owned the site where the capture occurred.
